Belgravia Leisure’s Tasmanian aquatic venues achieve strongest safety results on record

We have achieved our strongest safety results on record, making us among the safest places to swim ahead of the summer season.

Here at Splash Devonport Aquatic and Leisure Centre, we have maintained our prestigious 5-Star Safety accreditations in 2026 following successful Aquatic Facility Safety Assessments (AFSA).

The results reflect our ongoing commitment to community safety, risk management and industry best practice across its aquatic operations.

  • Splash Devonport: 98.98% safety rating, an increase of 0.55% from 2025 and ranked among the top five Belgravia Leisure aquatic venues nationally for safety performance.

Scott Vanderheyden, General Manager of Health and Safety at Belgravia Leisure, said the results reflected the dedication of local teams and Belgravia Leisure’s strong safety culture.

“At Belgravia Leisure, we are committed to protecting our communities and safety is our number one focus when it comes to our operations.

To our Tasmanian teams, thank you for your commitment to excellence in aquatic safety and for helping create safe environments for the communities we serve.

“These audit scores are really impressive, and the standards set by our Tasmanian venues are not just for show on the audit day, but we see the evidence of a strong safety culture daily through strong reporting standards and best practice implementation of the Belgravia methodology.

These venues are not only industry leading against their colleagues in Tasmania, but to have both SWIRL and Splash Devonport in the top 5 performing venues in Belgravia is a huge achievement and shows their commitment to safety. ”

The Aquatic Safety team continues to strengthen safety standards across its network through risk assessments, operational inspections, safety audits and pre-operational guidelines, while also supporting the work of industry organisations including Lifesaving Victoria.

The AFSA is designed to provide swimming pool operators with a comprehensive overview of their safety standards. The assessment enables the development of a detailed report benchmarked against a range of industry, state and national standards, guidelines and legislative provisions.
